My children were six, four, and two when this began, in 2006. I had noticed that there is a world belonging entirely to children — beliefs and ideas they rarely share with adults, and almost never with their parents. I wanted to find a way in.
What we discovered, and have kept discovering, is that children think with a seriousness and originality that tends to go unrecorded. And then they change. The child who held a particular view at six holds a different one at ten, and another at fifteen. Filmed across time, that movement becomes something worth preserving.
